Practice Areas

At Kellogg & Palzer, P.C., we strive to provide our clients with all the necessary information the client needs to make an informed decision. Please visit the following pages to learn more about our areas of practice, and to learn more about the area of law that applies to your situation. This general information can not take the place of an in person consultation with an attorney, but it can serve to inform you of the various "talking points" that we will need to cover in meeting your legal needs.

Estate Planning (Wills, Trusts and Powers of Attorney)
Preparing your Estate Plan can be the greatest gift to your family. Losing a family member is a very stressful and confusing time for anyone, but that stress can be eased by having your estate in order. At Kellogg & Palzer, P.C., we work closely with our clients so that the Will is a legal reflection of the client's wishes and intentions, and not just a form with your name plugged in.
Probate (Estate Administration)

The process of administering a will through probate involves several key steps:

  1. Opening the Estate (Admitting the will to probate)
  2. Appointing a Personal Representative
  3. Gathering of Assets-Preparation of the Inventory
  4. Notifying and paying creditors
  5. Determining and paying Inheritance, Estate and Income taxes
  6. Distribution of assets and Closing the Estate
Small Business Planning (Corporations, Partnerships, LLC)

Forming your business into a corporation or limited liability company (LLC) is one of the best ways to protect your personal assets from liabilities created by your business. Sometimes insurance is not enough to protect your personal assets.

Personal Injury (Motor Vehicle Accidents, Slip and Falls, Wrongful Death)

You have suffered a loss and you need assistance. Once you have placed your claim in our hands, we will strive to get a fair and successful result for you.

Employment Law

You have probably heard that Nebraska is an "employment at will" state. What that means is that absent a contract, or a specific law prohibiting it, an employer in Nebraska can hire, fire, promote, demote or change a term or condition of employment "at will." This doesn't necessarily mean that an employer can do whatever it wants to its employees. There are several laws which regulate the workplace that must be followed by employers.

Family Law

Divorce does not always have to be adversarial. At Kellogg & Palzer, P.C., we strive to reach amicable settlements so that both parties can move forward with their lives. Working towards a fair result is usually the goal of most of our family law clients, and we try not to upset that goal. No one wins when the attorneys encourage unnecessary litigation, or counsel their clients against mediation and settlement.

Adoption

One of the most satisfying aspects of our job is to be a part of the adoption of a child by a loving family. At Kellogg & Palzer, P.C., we have handled hundreds of adoptions: step-parent adoptions, private adoptions, agency and international adoptions.
